This weeks challenge is designed to get you organised for Christmas ....I hope this hasn't frightened you but yes... it is just 2 months away and the coming weeks will just shoot past. I hold my hands up and admit that I am always chasing around just before christmas trying to get all the jobs done...shopping, decorating the house, the cards, the cake, the mince pies.....and the list goes on. I can hear my mum say to me "tackle one job at a time Debbie, then cross it off your list"
So this is where I begin my journey to Christmas. My Christmas table....crackers or favour boxes, table place names, centre piece decoration, menu card....
Challenge Criteria:
Create a hand crafted project for your Christmas celebration.. This could be to plan and design your Christmas meal table choosing a colour theme and style and possibly creating a mood board (just a board with samples of colours styles ideas from magazines) or if you are not having a large Christmas celebration meal just create a selection of decorations for the room or tree.
- Use a mood board to plan your celebration.
- Try using something in your craft stash which hasn't been used for a while (mine is the snowflake stamp)
- Include either a punched item or a die cut item in some way. (see the aperture on the choccy bag)
- Use wire somewhere on your project. (see the serviette ring topped with beads threaded onto wire)
- Bring a selection of base cardstock...plus plain/printed card stock in your choice of colours, cor-ordinating accents, wire. (you may also want to bring fabric mesh for the serviette ring although I do have some here if you need it just to try out the technique.
During this weeks club sessions I will be demonstrating a favour gift bag. a name place card . The christmas cracker will be carried over to another week if anyone wants learn how to make them.
Here are my samples. I have kept them simple to keep the pressures from hectic run up to christmas under control. (my place card and chocolate bag will have the beads on wire popped on the top....just need to find the rest of the pack I have so cleverly stored so that now I can't find it! ....I am sure I am not the only one with this problem eh!)

Although it is hard to see on the Photo the black background on the Menu card is black card covered in black netting which gives it a more textural feel. You can just see that the ring for the napkin is created from black card covered in back netting which makes it look professional (and the glued area inside is lined)
This is a simple elegant colour choice which will be complemented by an Ivory rose and Ivy floral display with black glittered baubles nestled so that the area for hanging dosn't show. Black, ivory and gold may not be everyones cup of tea but I love it!
Here's another name place card (note how the wire was used to create a double ring: a bit like a paper clip, which neatly holds the disc with the name to go on therefore making it re-usable) My little snowman was embossed and layered up from a brass stencil using the cuttlebug.
There will be more ideas at the Craft Club.
Have a great week.
