Craft Club Challenge - 5th November 2012

Keep Christmas simple!

Hand crafted cards do not have to always be elaborate with loads of creative flair....sometimes simple and elegant does the job just as well, especially if you are rushing around trying to tie up all those festive arrangements.

This weeks challenge is to create simple uncluttered Christmas cards which take no more than 5 minutes to make....oooooh now that's a challenge, especially for me, as I always have that urge to keep going with the creative stuff (I sometimes feel like I have something to prove!).

Give yourself a target of making X amount of cards in an hour and do the same or similar design.

Criteria:

  • Use simple plain e or cream smooth white card blanks plus additional smooth cardstock and silver or gold mirri card.
  • Use rubber stamping with ink only (no embossing powder) I used archival inks.
  • You may use a simple die or punch if you have no stamps (eg Christmas tree, snowflake)
  • You can enhance the stamp with water colour, white glitter and selectively placed gems....and that's it!
A simple tip to add to the elegance is matting and layering with contrasting card and to use your ink you have used to stamp to create the continuity of colour.   The three cards below show how easy it is to achieve and also using unusual colour choices....they do not have to be the traditional colours.

See how the tiny hint of green water colour on the roofs and the snow changes the mood of the card.

I am looking forward to seeing what you come up with and I will have some lovely stamps to use during the club session.
