Craft Club Challenge - 25th June 2012

Creating Water Colour effects using
Rubber Stamps (Featuring Stampourri in the Garden stamps)

As a long standing rubber stamp collector I love to use different ranges of stamps to create different styles of finsished projects.

The Stampourri company is no longer in existance but this does show how to use what look like small insignificant stamps to great effect.  It is well worth searching out those small stamps and having a go at watercolour using water based ink pads such as Tim Hotlz Distress Inks or just your ordinary every day felt tip pens.

Criteria for Challenge:

Create a card or craft project using felt tip pens or Distress inks with rubber stamps and use a brush and water to paint the image just using the ink from the stamped image on your paper.  Additional ink can be used from a pallet and painted on.  Water colour paper gives the most realistic effect but you can just used normal card but remember not to use too much water.  The techniques were demonstrated at the Craft Club last week and so if you missed it and would like to learn this technique call me to book your place at a Craft Club Session it will be coming back soon.

Here are my finished pieces: (left click once to enlarge)

These cards are created from lots of individual stamps which give the freedom to create a background of your choice.
The card above has a 3D cobbled step as well as swinging Picket fencing.

These are so enjoyable to create and every project will be different.  A stamp positioner can be used to get elements in the perfect position although with practice it is easy to guage where things have to go.

More stampourri fun to come in future Craft Club Challenges...Look out for Stampourri in the Kitchen, Stampourri sewing,  the Stampourri Boudoir, Stamouri entertaining and more.

Happy Crafting!
